In the early years of 8er production, there were a large variety of upholstery colors/fabrics to choose from BMW's official catalog. By the 1993-94 model years, BMW re-evaluated the upholstery catalog for the 8er and promptly removed underperforming colors.
In late 1991, BMW introduced the Colorline interiors series (in order of total number produced):
This upholstery color was designed to be combined with TOBAGOBLAU METALLIC (code 256), of which 445 of the 470 8er's were built with this combination.
It was offered from November 1991 until April 1999.
