BMW AG announced today that due to deteriorating market conditions and lack of profitability in the new model line, the Concept CS (the new 8 Series) is cancelled.

Our take?
In light of the upcoming global recession, energy conservation, and new technologies emerging to power our automobiles, BMW AG made a smart decision in cancelling this program. Perhaps someday the 8 Series will return under better circumstances. Producing a new 8 Series under existing technologies and profitability makes no sense.
