I have finally decided to part with my beloved 840Ci (4.4 litre V8), which I have owned for over 10 years. The car has been regularly serviced and maintained regardless of cost. The last service was in May 2010. Since August 2009 it has had a new radiator expansion tank, new wheel trims, new water pump and new front and rear shock absorbers (M series)etc. All in all for over £6,000. The car an absolute joy to drive and one that never fails to turn heads. The car comes with 6 CD charger in the boot, electric mirrors, black sports seats with yellow piping, built in telephone, electric rear window screen etc. The MOT / road fund expires at the end of November.The mobile phone reception in this area is usually poor, nor can I always pick up the phone. I am considering selling my BMW 840Ci that I have owned for over five years. During that time it has been a pleasure to drive, and it gets attention everywhere due to the unique looks and rarity of the 8 series. When I took the car for its annual MOT just before winter, I realised I've done very few miles in the car over the last year, being that I no longer do many long-distance journeys, and I have a 3-series BMW I use for going to work and running around. Hence why I have decided to put it up for sale.This model comes with the much sought after 6-speed manual gearbox, one of only 57 right hand drive 840Ci produced worldwide with this gearbox. It also has the sports kit which is the same as that fitted to the 850CSi - sports front and rear bumpers, sports suspension, sports mirrors, and sports seats. Cars of this specification are very difficult to find, I've actually never seen another 6-speed manual 840Ci with all the sport spec equipment.The car has been meticulously maintained, with thousands of pounds having been spent on it both during my ownership, and when it was owned by its previous keepers, to keep everything working 100%. I have a large folder full of receipts for most of the work that has been carried out, almost all of it at BMW dealers and independent specialists. It currently has 170,000 miles which appears to be around average for this age and type of car, although it hides the mileage very well as it looks and drives so nicely.The car has just had an oil service, and the MOT and road tax expire in September 2010. The car has literally only done a few hundred miles since the MOT, as it's been stored over the winter and generally only gets used during weekends in summer. I'm happy to put another 12 months' MOT on the car at the request of a potential buyer - I'm totally confident the car will sail through. The bodywork on the car is beautiful, with no rust or damage visible, and the interior is also near immaculate, with only minor signs of wear to the leather sports seats. The air conditioning/climate control works perfectly. It also drives beautifully, pulling hard anywhere in the rev range, with no unusual noises. Likewise, the gearbox and clutch work perfectly, with no free play evident.The only non-standard upgrades that have been fitted to the car are polyurethane suspension bushes fitted to the thrust arms (due to the original rubber BMW items being a known weak point that wear out quickly), and a stainless steel exhaust system (to replace the mild steel original system which is prone to corrosion).Listed below are some of the maintenance items that have been done to the car over the last few years, in addition to routine servicing. Radiator & header tank replaced Clutch replaced Both water pumps replaced Thermostat & housing replaced All 4 brake discs, pads and handbrake shoes replacedFront anti-roll bar drop links replaced Front track-rods replacedBoth front engine mounts replaced Both batteries replaced Thrust arms replaced and fitted with uprated polyurethane bushesAs can be seen from this list, many of the common failure items for older BMWs, such as the water pumps and thrust arms, have been replaced on this car, so it should require no significant maintenance for some time. The car is running perfectly at the moment, it does not lose any coolant, and it uses very little oil between services (far less than the BMW specification allows for a brand new engine!). Specification:18" M-Parallel wheels (genuine BMW wheels, not poor quality replicas) - 265/35x18 tyres rear, 235/40x18 tyres front Sports seats with full electric memory adjustment including extendable thigh support and heating - 100% working Remote central locking with total closure and total opening (open or close all windows and sunroof from the remote)BMW factory-fit radio with 6 CD changer in the bootMirrors with full electric adjustment with heating and memory function including auto-dip on the passenger mirror when reverse gear is selected.Full stainless steel cat-back exhaust system, produces a nice sound under acceleration, but quiet during cruisingThe car is currently on a dateless private plate, which makes it look far newer than it actually is. I'm willing to negotiate with any potential buyer and would consider leaving it on the car, otherwise I'll put the car back to a standard registration as part of the sale process.If there are any queries, or to request more pictures, please drop me an email. 107,000 miles, 1992, black with light grey interior, full service history 95% main dealer, all old mot's, last owner 14 years, maintained regardless of cost, very good condition for year and miles, ABS, electric seats, sun roof with tilt, wing mirrors, steering column/wheel, onboard computer, air conditioning, electric rear blind, cruise control, factory radio cassette with 6 CD changer in boot, complete tool kit and hand book in leather case. Runs and drives superbly, it doesn't have the common juddering on acceleration. This car is totally original and is a rare true classic super car. There are very few good examples for its age left, and this is one of them.
