For Japan, blue is the number one exterior color group with 28.29% of all 2,513 JP market version 8 Series (code 807). built.  Overall, there were 25 different exterior colors applied to the JP E31's. 

All BMW E31's built for the Japan market were Left Hand Drive (LHD).   Having a German LHD vehicle is considered a status symbol in Japan.
