CB00000's 20th Anniversary is coming July 28, 2009.
BMW AG's first production 8er occurred on July 28, 1989, with chassis CB00000. It rolled off the Dingolfing, Bavaria factory assembly line with little fanfare because it was a test run. Although there were other BMW 850 prototypes produced prior to July, 1989, this particular vehicle was the very first factory revenue 8er vehicle.
CB00000's build report:
Colour: DIAMANTSCHWARZ METALLIC (181)
Upholstery: ANTHRAZIT STOFF (0346)
Production date: 1989-07-28

CB00000 was used for quality control evaluation, supplier feedback, and factory training. Although unconfirmed, CB00000 was reportedly junked and salvaged.
The earliest confirmed 8er still in existence is CB00044.
