In the early years of 8er production, there were a large variety of upholstery colors/fabrics to choose from BMW's official catalog. By the 1993-94 model years, BMW re-evaluated the upholstery catalog for the 8er and promptly removed underperforming colors.
This particular upholstery color was rarely seen in the 8 Series. It was a standard offering for Euro (ECE) M70 850's and early M60 840's. Considered by many to be dark brown in color, there was a very low order rate for this interior.
The last 8er that received this interior was an M60 840CiA built 17-June-1993 before the color was dropped for the 1994 model year (September, 1993).
